Nokia Announces N97 Widget Contest

Here’s your chance to be part of the Nokia Nseries innovation process by designing a homescreen widget for the forthcoming Nokia N97, which is available during the first half of 2009.

A widget is a time-saving element of the device’s user interface, a visual building block that provides an easily accessible single interaction point with an application, which holds and processes data. There are thousands of types of widget.

For participate download the design package from here, design your widget and upload it for others to rate. Keep visiting the site to log your opinions on others’ offerings because the ten highest-rated designs will go in front of a panel of judges selected from the Nokia Nseries team. The panel will choose the best home screen widget based on creativity, usability and quality of design.

The winning widget will go into production, and the winning widget designer will receive a production-mode Nokia N97 ahead of the public release, pre-installed with their homescreen widget.

The closing date for the competition is February 27, 2009. The winner will be announced on Nokia website on March 13, 2009.

Gmail adds new feature in Labs :: Tasks

Gmail adds new feature in Labs called ” Tasks “.

With this Gmail new stuff  you can easily convert emails into tasks: select one or more messages and go to More Actions > Add to Tasks. (Or turn on keyboard shortcuts and use <shift> + t.)

Gmail put your tasks in the same kind of window as chats, so they’re visible while you’re scanning your inbox, reading mail, or searching (and in Settings, too!). Just pop your list out into a new window to use Tasks outside of Gmail.

To enable Tasks, go to Settings, click the Labs tab (or just click here if you’re signed in). Select “Enable” next to “Tasks” and then click “Save Changes” at the bottom. Then, after Gmail refreshes, on the left under the “Contacts” link, you’ll see a “Tasks” link. Just click it to get started.

Nokia on Tuesday launched the N97, the manufacturer second touchscreen phone after Nokia 5800 Xpress Music phone with Qwerty keyboard and touchscreen phone with Nokia’s Music Store as in Nokia 5800. The Nokia N97 is of 3.5 inch widescreen display with quick icon access to social networking services as Facebook, MySpace. Nokia N97 with 32 GB storage and is expandable upto 48GB with 16GB microSD card. The device also support the popular IM networks like AOL’s AIM and MSN. The Nokia N97 Cell Phone had 5 megapixel camera With GPS sensor and electronic compass together.
